art of recycling

In the first ever term of Year 9 Art GCSE, we have produced a recycling themed exhibition which was of a very high standard. Our task was to create a piece of art only using recycled materials to show in the Peacock Gallery. We only had a few weeks to do this and to make sure it was finished in time.
In the exhibition there was a range of materials used to produce animals, planes and book pieces. Some of these materials were: cans, fabrics, cleaning products, old toys, kitchen products and even food items. This created a very recycle themed atmosphere.
My favourite piece was the tin dog as it was made fully out of recycled materials, mainly tin. This was my favourite piece because it was very delicately made and there must have been a lot of time put into it. The outcome also stood out from all the rest of the pieces as it was big and bold and you couldn’t miss seeing it in the gallery. My second and third place was close as it was between, a pair of hands coming out of a book, drawing the recycled symbol or another dog this time fully made out of tea bags. In the end I chose the hands coming out of the book, to come second as it was different and looked nothing like anything else in the gallery. I chose the tea- bag dog to come third as there were a couple of dogs made in the gallery, even though it was made carefully and very precisely.
I think all my class has gained a big experience from this exhibition and won’t forget about it in years to come. This has also shown people that you can make anything using old materials that you don’t think you need any more.
